Career
Shodai, a Kumamoto native competing out of Tokitsukaze-beya, debuted in March 2014. Standing 184 cm and weighing 168 kg, he has campaigned primarily in the upper divisions. Recent bashos show a pattern of struggle: consecutive *make-koshi* at *maegashira* 5, 6, and 11 from May through September 2026 led to demotion to *jūryō* 3 for November 2026. His March 2026 *kachi-koshi* at *maegashira* 8 represents his lone winning record in this five-basho window.
His attack centers on *oshi-zumō*, with *yotsu-zumō* as a secondary weapon.
- September 2026 Basho
- Severe 3–12 *make-koshi* at *maegashira* 11 triggered demotion across the *makuuchi*/*jūryō* division line.
