Career
Asakoryu is a 28-year-old *rikishi* from Osaka competing for Takasago stable. He made his professional debut in May 2021 and currently holds the rank of *maegashira* 9 west. Standing 178 cm and weighing 122 kg, he has compiled a mixed record in recent tournaments, including back-to-back *kachi-koshi* in July and September 2026 that lifted him from the lower *maegashira* ranks. His May 2026 tournament was disrupted by a mid-basho withdrawal.
His attack draws equally on pushing techniques and throwing moves, with neither approach clearly dominant.

- Withdrew mid-tournament after eight absences, leading to significant rank drop from *maegashira* 7 west.
- July 2026 Basho
- Secured *kachi-koshi* at *maegashira* 16 west with a 9–6 record, beginning his climb back up the *banzuke*.
- September 2026 Basho
- Posted consecutive *kachi-koshi* with another 9–6 showing at *maegashira* 13 east.
